Ethics in a Corporate Entrepreneurial Environment #
Ethics plays a very influential role within the corporate entrepreneurial environment, whereas showing the overall morality people of an organization possess over their verbal and non-verbal interactions. The first and major ethical issue that arises in a corporation as it strives to be more entrepreneurial is linked with the diverse nature of people working in that corporation. In reality, when a corporation involves people from diverse backgrounds such as religion, culture, race, ethnicity etc. then it becomes hard for the corporation to ethically treat diverse employees, whereas offering equal chances to develop through various projects and activities of the corporation. In this regard, if the corporation fails to give value to contributions of all diverse members of the corporation then unethical treatment gives rise to unbalanced corporate entrepreneurial environment.
In addition, another ethical issue that may arise when a corporation strives to be more entrepreneurial is discrimination leading towards harassment. In an organization, when seniors are more likely to discriminate others on the basis of their race, age, gender, or aspects of sexual appeal then it becomes hard for employees under seniors to work freely as discrimination creates a sense of being harassed and, therefore, limits and overwhelm the creative and professional abilities of employees, leading towards an unethical workplace environment within a corporation.
A corporation when strives to become more entrepreneurial then safety and health issues of people working for that corporation may arise ethical issues, within the functional nature of the corporation. When a corporation ignores the rights and privileges of its employees, especially when it comes about their safety and health, then ethical issue may arise, leading towards inhuman or immoral treatment of members of organization.
Privacy is another ethical issue that may arise when a corporation strives to become more entrepreneurial. When a corporation forces to use company-based or collective means of communication such as through the use of social media means of communication then in such situation issues of privacy overwhelms many and, therefore, lead towards unethical corporate entrepreneurial environment.
When a corporate strives to become more entrepreneurial then the ethical issue of financial misleading may arise. For example, a person who is liable to handle all financial records and other financial activities do unethical accounting of financials of the corporation then an ethical issue may arise. There are many real life examples of such ethical issues like 2001 scandal of Enron Company, one of the energy companies of America, reported false financial statements and the auditor also penned that false financial statement even when reports were inaccurate.
Last, but not least, another ethical issue that may arise when a corporate strives to become more entrepreneurial is linked with the wavering commitments of seniors with juniors and vice versa. In a corporate entrepreneurial environment when members fail to fulfil or keep up with their commitments then ethical issue arises, leading towards a distrustful relationship among all members of the organization. In reality, wavering nature of commitments leads towards a very weak level of trust and, thus, creates ethical issue in the end.
