Management Styles and Approaches

Management approaches

As a manager of the organization it is preferable to use the path-goal contingency model to enhance the motivation level of the employees as this approach states that the managers of the organization are flexible and adapt the changes so by applying this we also ensure the flexible environment in our organization in which the employees are flexible and are capable to adopt the changes in the organization the changes don’t reduce their performance they increase their motivation level and enhance their performance as they treat the changes as an opportunity or challenge, not as a problem. To implement this model in the organization the managers adopt the management styles that are directive, participative, supportive and achievement-oriented approach this enhance the motivation level in the organization and improves the productivity of the employees and as a result of this organization, growth enhances. In the directive management model, the managers provide direction to the employees that how they work to achieve the goals of the organization and how to accomplish a specific task. For example in my organization as a manager, I give the direction to the manufacturing line about the manufacturing of the product-related its quality and the quantity.

Through applying the participative approach managers create an environment in which the employees feel free to discuss and give their ideas and opinion about the process for example as a manager I consult the design of the product to the operation team to generate better and effective plans. In the supportive approach, the managers give support to the employees in order to enhance their performance for example as a manager I give support to the operative employees that improve their performance and enhance their motivation level. Through applying the achievement-oriented approach managers sets challenging goals to achieve rather than simple goals these goals check their excellence and increase the organization performance for example as a manager in the company I set the goals of reducing the cost of production and for this implement different strategies and achieve it and by this organization profits are increased and the organization achieve its ultimate goal that is the maximization of the shareholder wealth. So according to the situation and the need of the approach managers apply the strategy that needs and enhance the organization performance.

Management style

Managers used different management styles according to the situation. Matching the management style with the situation make the work effective and enhance the organization performance. Like the task-oriented managers only focus on the task they are not flexible and able to adopt change but the relationship-oriented managers are most effective as they adopt changes and are flexible they make the decision according to the situation so this style of management is most effective and efficient. As a manager of the organization, I use the relationship-oriented style because it matches with my approaches and skills of management and supports me in enhancing the organization performance and increasing the employee motivation level and their productivity.
